Company Our client is a leading global investment bank that has offices in multiple locations globally and a growing business stream across Asia. Due to this rapid growth in the region there is to be a large investment in financial systems in the coming 12 to 18months so there's an opportunity for an Applications focused Project Manager with solid middle and Back Office experience to drive new initiatives across the Asia Pacific region.


You'll be responsible for driving resources, local and offshore to deliver a number of regional projects with the assistance of a Development lead, Capital Markets IT teams in other locations, outsourced partners and venders. The focus at least in the initial stages will be implementing a framework for project delivery as there is nothing firm in place in the Sydney office from there the project focus will be the consolidation and/or improvement of middle and Back Office finance systems (ie Risk, PnL, Product and financial control).


To be successful in this role you'll need a strong Development/Application layer focused background matched with the ability to provide architectural guidance and project leadership/management of development teams in multiple environments thus giving you a rich view of the many approaches and methods to project delivery. You'll need to demonstrate a strong understanding of the "Initial Stages" of the project life cycle ie Scoping Project Solution, Requirements Gathering, Business Cases and Stakeholder Engagement etc. In addition you'll draw on strong business knowledge across Middle Office functions (General Ledger, PnL, Product control, Risk) along with experience with from scratch, application implementations (Upgrades, Migrations alone will not suffice).

Requirements of the role:

   » 10 years working on Application development and implementation (from scratch) projects.
   » 3 years minimum in a Project or IT Team Manager role within finance.
   » Strong knowledge of Middle Office/finance functions (General Ledger, PnL, Product Control, Risk).
   » Strong Project initiation experience (Scoping Project Solution, Requirements Gathering etc )
   » Excellent communication and man management capabilities.
   » Experience in estimating IT projects and proposal/Tender preparation.
   » Experience in Vendor and Client Management.
   » Tertiary qualifications in a technical discipline or industry relevant certifications.
   » Broad awareness of local regulatory reporting requirements (desirable).
