A community Special Needs school in Richmond is recruiting for a Teacher to start in September 2010 for the whole academic year.

This unique school provides an outstanding education to secondary aged students who have Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Medical needs. Staff are led by a very strong management team, who provide a friendly environment to work in.

Successful candidates will have previous experience working with SLD students. The class consists of 6 pupils in Key Stage 1. Each student has an assigned Teaching Assistant. The student’s ability levels vary, with many working at P Levels, therefore it is very important that you are flexible and have knowledge of a number of communication techniques, including Picture Exchange Communication (PECs) and Makaton. The school also uses Team Teach as a method of positive handling.
