Teaching Assistant (Autism)

An outstanding Special Needs school in Ealing is recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to start in January 2012.

The school has 160 pupils who have a primary diagnosis of Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Autism.

They are looking for someone to work in their Key Stage 3 class of 6 children. The class is low functioning with students being non verbal. Experience and Knowledge using Picture Exchange Communication (PECs) and Makaton is essential. They also have sensory based learning within the class. As a form of positive handling the school uses Team Teach, therefore you must have had previous training in this.

The right candidate will be enthusiastic and have experience of working with non verbal students. You will be required to complete 1 lunch duty per week and take part in extra curricular activities; therefore any expertise or interest in art of drama would be an added advantage.
