Our client is a leading US listed global provider of Digital Video Broadcasting services and solutions, due to continued growth and success they now require an Application Development Manager (VOD/IPTV). Summary: As the Application Development Manager (VOD/IPTV) you will manage professional level Software Engineers & Developers within the company focused on development, test and debugging of applications and systems functions. As part of the Research and Development function, the overall focus of the group is on competitive market and customer requirements, technology advances, product quality, product cost and time-to-market.

Responsibilities:

- Provide direction and supervision to the group or groups of Engineers responsible for:

o All aspects of software development life cycle from requirements definition through development, validation, release and sustaining engineering support.
o Performance Analysis
o Develop and implement new projects, policies and procedures for the department(s); and ensure that project goals are met.
o Utilize previously acquired technical experience to become actively involved in day-to-day projects to meet schedules and resolve problems.
o Take responsibility for results, including costs, methods and staffing.
o 3 rd party software integration

- Interact with geographically distributed development and test teams, interact with distributed cross-organizational teams, partner companies, and external vendors, as appropriate, to bring high quality product releases to market on time in a predictable manner.

- Regularly communicate on such subjects as project tracking, program status, issue escalation, and dissemination of company information to managers, peers, and subordinates.

- Create highly effective teams with strong work ethics, expertise and knowledge sharing

- Responsible for performance metrics definition, metrics collection, metrics analysis and reporting

Requirements:

- Must have University degree in computer related discipline, extra consideration given for candidates with Masters/Doctorate degrees
- Minimum of 8 years+ of IT application development experience as well as at least 3 years Management experience
- Expert in object-oriented design and development in C++ within a VOD or IPTV environment
- Experience on Client Server application design/development and System programming
- Knowledge in the following areas is desirable: Static analysis tools (Klocwork, Coverity, PC-Lint etc), Dynamic analysis (Purify, Insure++ etc), and Unit testing frameworks (CppUnit)

Cantonese speaking candidates with a permanent HK ID card would be extremely desirable, but not essential.
