Newly Created Role - New Trading Team - Investment Bank Expanding in Sydney Manage Multiple Trading Applications and Market Data Systems Strong Business Knowledge Required with Good Technical Problem solving

One of the world's largest and most dynamic Investment banks is expanding its operations in Sydney and will be opening up a brand new Fixed Income desk here in the new year. This desk will consist of 7 traders, one junior internally transferred person and YOU as the senior support person. Our client has weathered the recent financial storms well and is not looking to aggressively expand on multiple fronts, thus they are looking to attract the market leading personnel across the board.

The support team will initially consist of two people, but this is expected to increase in size over the next few years as the desk expands in volume and capacity. This team is first point of contact for trader issues requests for all requirements within Fixed Income applications. Thus they are required to have a strong grasp of the business concepts within Fixed Income Markets - Market Data, Risk, Pricing, Quoting, Electronic Execution, End-of-Day processing and position keeping.

Taking responsibility for the trading applications, your day will start with checking system status and ensuring the desks are live. You will then continuously monitor the production environment and troubleshoot all issues during the day. This will include business and technical issues as you take responsibility for keeping the desk trading and proactively spot opportunities to improve internal processes automation.

The position requires the incumbent to have a broad range of Windows based IT skills and extensive experience working within Fixed Income Markets.

Responsibilities include:

   » First Line Support Point of Contact for Traders
   » Ownership of Support local in-house developed Finance applications
   » Troubleshoot and identify root cause analysis of all raised issues.
   » Market Data Systems (Reuters, Bloomberg, IRESS etc.)
   » Develop the position to become the acknowledged domain expert for local applications
   » Problem management (ideally ITIL aligned)
   » Mentor Manager Junior Support Person
   » Liaise co-ordinate with Infrastructure Development Groups
   » Perform in an environment where multi-tasking, constant problem resolution and on-going risk assessment is the standard

Business skills required include:

   » Min 3 years Experience Supporting Rates business in Investment Bank
   » Strong Understanding of Pricing Risk Management for.
   » Treasuries: Bills, Bonds, IR Futures,
   » Agencies: Bullets, Discount Notes
   » Inflation: TIPS, I-Strips, Inflation Swaps,
   » Derivatives - IR Swaps, FRA's
   » Prop Trading
   » Futures, Swaps, Bonds,
   » AUS$, US$, Yen
   » Solid understanding of workflow and processes involved with trading systems
   » Good understanding of electronic trading environment for rates business
   » Strong communication and interpersonal skills
   » Self sufficient, highly motivated, resourceful individual
   » Be a problem owner and solver with a logical approach to solving issues
