Technical Architect - Z/OS, DB/2, CICS, Cobol, AIX, Oracle DB, Windows 2003/2008, SQL 2005, .Net IT ARCHITECTURE PERTH £41,271 - £57,254 (SSE 10/11) SSE is one of the largest and most diverse energy companies in the UK, with around ten million customers across our various brands.

IT Architecture provides in-depth technical solutions for SSE. The Architecture team creates both strategic direction, based on business case for supporting technologies, and tactically supporting projects. We are looking to extend our team with an experienced IT professional.

Key duties and responsibilities of the role include:

   » Developing architectural solutions to match Business and IT requirements and contribute to the strategic technical direction of the group
   » Working with the Business Solutions team to develop business justifications for new requirements
   » Carrying out analysis of business requirements, current systems' capabilities and technology opportunities to design enterprise-class technical solutions and integrate these within the existing environment
   » Determining appropriate architecture for new applications to meet requirements
   » Owning, documenting and communicating Solution designs, technical strategy, policy, architecture standards, technology and application roadmaps within the IT and business communities
   » Evaluating new and emerging technologies and determining if and how they may be exploited to a business advantage

The successful candidate will:

   » Have had exposure to IT technologies and Systems Architectures and experience of working within a large and complex organisation, to define Enterprise Architectures and Technical/Solution design
   » Have the ability to analyse requirements and capabilities to determine solutions
   » Have the ability to communicate at all levels within an organisation
   » Have the ability to document solutions and business case justifications
   » Have the ability to work on a mixed priority workload with customers, colleagues and third parties
   » Be skilled in various technologies and architectures: application Firewalls, network, load balancing, Z/OS, DB/2, CICS, Cobol, AIX, Oracle DB and Applications, Windows 2003/2008, SQL 2005, .Net, Citrix Metaframe, mobile solutions, BI, enterprise monitoring, SOA
   » Ideally have experience with Smart Metering technologies and Enterprise Architecture qualifications and practice
