Support Team Lead (Java) - Financial Services (S11)

My client is a prestigious and progressive Financial Services company and due to business expansion and growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Java Support Team Leader . The successful candidate will be responsible for providing operational support and leadership including incident management, problem resolution and service delivery to the business. 

In this role, you will be leading a team responsible for the day to day support of a suite of business critical applications. You will be involved in design and development of system enhancements and bug fixes as well as taking a proactive approach to managing the performance and capacity of the various systems.

Your main responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

   » prioritising and resolving day-to-day systems issues and client requests in a timely manner
   » acting as an escalation point for the business on support issues
   » managing the pipeline of application changes/enhancements and running weekly prioritisation meetings with business stakeholders
   » ad hoc development of small application changes and enhancements
   » root cause analysis of problems to develop solutions and drive process improvements
   » establishing strong relationships with business users and IT teams
   » reporting of support related activities

You will need the following skills and experience to be considered:

   » experience with leadership of a support team including setting priorities and managing tasks
   » the ability to work well under pressure
   » excellent problem solving abilities
   » strong written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated customer focus
   » a strong appreciation of key business drivers and an understanding of the IT impact upon the business
   » previous experience with the ITIL framework
   » A solid understanding of Object-Oriented design concepts
   » Enterprise Java/J2EE (JSP/JavaScript/Ajax/Servlet/JDBC)
   » Experience with open-source frameworks and libraries, especially Struts, Spring IOC, iBatis.
   » Experience with J2EE Application Server (WebLogic preferred)
   » Strong relational database experience (Sybase preferred, including stored procedures)
   » Unix skills
