Smith Aims To Stay On Top

He has all the reason in the world to smile following the emphatic demolition of England at Lord's over the weekend, but South African skipper Graeme Smith was humble in victory, saying his team will aiming even higher for the rest of the series. South Africa's dominance in the Test series thus far was finally rewarded with a well deserved victory by an innings and 92 runs at Lord's to give them a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. Smith, however, described the dressing room celebrations as something like a scene from a zoo.

"There was a lot of screaming and shouting and nobody knows quite what to do. When I left it was chaos," an excited Smith told the Cape Times. "It is one of the best feelings I have ever had" The South African captain, who once again etched his name into the record books with his 259, paid tribute to the entire team for the victory. "I will take two 250s in two Test matches any day, but it was a great team performance and that is the main thing at the moment," said Smith. "We are riding on a wave at the moment."
