The number of jobs in Britain available to foreign workers will drop by 200,000 when the UK Government’s latest shortage occupation list is released on November 27.

The list is an integral part of the visa system’s new skilled worker tier (Tier 2), under which only foreign workers needed in the UK due to occupation shortages will be able to come and work here.

To qualify for a Tier 2 visa, skilled foreign workers must have English language skills, a prospective salary of more than £24,000 — or slightly less if they have a highly regarded qualification — or an offer of a job on the shortage list.
