Going virtually solo

Virtual staffers were usually home-based and relied on technology
Introverts and older people are far more suited to working in a virtual team, a study has found.

Researcher David Tuffley of Australia’s Griffith University said technology advances and the drive for low overheads had created virtual organisations that did not have a physical identity. He said virtual staffers were usually home-based and relied on technology such as
the internet.

“More introverted personality types may cope better due to their self-contained work style, while more outgoing personalities who prefer a social and collaborative environment may struggle,” he said.
