Mine workers earn more

Miners now earn A$1939 a week
The mining boom continues to line the pockets of Australia’s wealthiest workers, with mine employees’ pay jumping 10 per cent over the past year.

Compared to a 3.8 per cent increase across all industries, the surge in miners’ wages vastly out-performs other sectors, with the nation’s lowest paid workers suffering a drop in wages, the Australian Bureau of Statistics says.

Miners now earn A$1939 a week, around A$800 a week more than the average worker, who takes home A$1131.
