More apprenticeships for Australia
A further 500 cadetship positions a year
Apprenticeships in New South Wale, Australia, will be tripled in a bid to offer opportunities to young people during the economic downturn.
NSW premier Nathan Rees said the government would offer an extra 1000 positions a year until 2013, on top of the 500 currently offered in the state.
NSW will also offer a further 500 cadetship positions a year during the same period for school leavers who want to get a start in the public sector.
The additional places for apprenticeships will start from the middle of this year.
“[We need] to prepare our workforce for when we emerge from the global recession,” Rees said.
